What the calculator accounts for

Six line items that decide what hiring costs.

Gross salary is rarely the whole story. Anställningskollen adds up the items that actually determine your total cost per employee.

Gross salary

The agreed monthly salary before tax — the starting point for the whole calculation.

Payroll tax

31.42 percent on top of gross salary, set by Swedish law. Calculated automatically — no research needed.

Holiday pay

About 12 percent under the Swedish Annual Leave Act — a line item that's easy to miss when calculating by hand.

Occupational pension

Optional add-on following the actual ITP1/SAF-LO tiered structure. You choose whether to include it.

Other costs

A flat-rate allowance for insurance, equipment and the employer's sick-pay period.

Total cost

The real cost per month and per year — the number you actually need to make the decision.

How it works

Three steps to the answer.

No accounting knowledge required — the tool fills in the statutory percentages for you.

FAQ

Questions about Anställningskollen.

What does Anställningskollen calculate?

The total cost of hiring someone — not just the gross salary. You enter a salary and a few parameters, and the tool adds up payroll tax, holiday pay, occupational pension and other staffing costs into a total monthly and annual cost, instantly as you type.

Is this financial or legal advice?

No. Anställningskollen is a planning tool that gives you a realistic estimate based on statutory percentages and common flat rates. It doesn't replace advice from an accountant, payroll consultant or lawyer before an actual hire.

What costs are included in the calculation?

Gross salary, payroll tax (31.42 percent by law), holiday pay (about 12 percent under the Annual Leave Act), occupational pension (optional add-on following the ITP1/SAF-LO model), and a flat-rate allowance for other costs such as insurance, equipment and the employer's sick-pay period.

Does it account for occupational pension?

Yes, as an optional add-on you switch on yourself. It follows the actual two-tier ITP1/SAF-LO structure — a lower percentage up to a cap, a higher percentage on the portion above — not a flat rate. It doesn't cover ITP2 (defined-benefit pension for salaried employees born 1978 or earlier), which requires an individual actuarial calculation.

How do I save my calculation without an account?

The first change you make generates its own random link. After that, everything saves automatically as you type. Bookmark the link to come back to the exact same calculation later, on any device.

What does it cost to use?

Anställningskollen is completely free to use, just like Kassakollen, Automationskollen and Offertkollen — no account, no registration.
